Substainable Commitments

Green Key Label

Our establishment, since 2020, has been awarded the Green Key label.

From now on, you can choose to reduce your environmental impact and affirm your social responsibility by choosing a Green Key labeled establishment in France or everywhere around the Globe.

Present on the five continents, the Green Key ecolabel is the first international sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodations and restaurants.

These establishments are committed to an efficient environmental approach with the objective of constantly evolving towards the best practices recommended by the Green Key ecolabel.

Developed in France since 1998, the Green Key label is, by the number of establishments labeled and by its history, the first ecolabel for tourism establishments in France.

Nos Démarches Ecoresponsables

Saving Water and Energy

  • Use of LED light bulbs for room lighting and double glazing for windows to limit heat loss.

  • Use of motion detection lights in the common areas of the hostel to limit energy consumption.

  • "Save water" and "Save energy" sticker in the rooms.

Waste

  • Waste are limited with the installation of a free food closet in the shared kitchen in which our customers can deposit their non-perishable, uneaten foodstuffs.

  • Our restaurant Etape84 is also committed to limit its impact by working with local products, by proposing vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as a seasonal menu.

Transportation

  • The People Hostel Tours offers negotiated rates on bike rentals encouraging our guests to enjoy the region and the facilities of the Loire Valley by bike without creating any carbon footprint.

  • We have a privileged location in the city, near city center and bus stations, which means you don't need a car to get to the city center or the train station.

Garbage and Recycling

  • A recycling bin for all plastic, metal and cardboard packaging has been set up in the client's kitchen (see poster on bin).

  • Each room also has a household waste bin for non-recyclable waste.

  • Ashtrays are placed everywhere in the garden to prevent cigarette butts from being thrown away.

Substainable Purchase

  • Use of recycled and recyclable paper for all our printing, which we limit by favouring the sending of electronic mail for bills.

  • Use of certified cleaning products for maintenance.

  • Our ciders, beers, juices and sodas are, for the most part, local and our bottles are consigned to guarantee their reuse.

Local Life and Community

  • Availability of a meeting/seminar room free of charge to encourage associations and local life.

  • Hosting of different events such as a clothing swap or a plant trade fair

  • Collection point for "La Ruche qui dit Oui" (direct sales of local fruits, vegetables and various products from producer to consumer)
